Description

You may have seen the Intercity 125 or the Class 43 or the HST as its know by. Well that locomotive is all down to this thing, back in the 1980s there was a competition between the APT and HST, the APT being an Electric High Speed tilting train and this the Experimental HST. Well after much work this won and BR created what we know to be the Class 43.

Course the Class 43 won, but weirdly enough the APT technology won, 30 years later and the HST has been replaced with Pendolino's which owe themselves to the APT which ran temporary on the same line. Kinda Ironic. Maybe the APT was just ahead of its time.

This loco is give the Number "41001", this was taken in the National Railway Museum, York.
